Hear her Roar

Submit Your 10 Minute Play to Hear Her Roar!

We want brave and bold new-writing plays that capture women's untold stories. Written by North East based writers or writers who have a strong North-East connection.

“We Want to Listen to Women’s Stories: we Want to HEAR HER ROAR.”

HEAR HER ROAR is based on ‘The C Project’ (2014) which JoJo Kirtley produced for Working Progress Theatre company. The concept was to create short plays that were professionally performed, directed and produced at The Lowry Studio Theatre, in aid of The Christie Hospital. ‘The C project’ was a huge success and raised over £6000 which was all donated to The Christie.

Working with Newcastle Women's Aid

Workie Ticket has chosen to work with Newcastle Women’s Aid to produce a similar project which we hope to develop in 2018. Newcastle Women’s Aid is an amazing organisation who help, advise and support women and children at risk from domestic abuse. This year, they were forced to close a refuge but are still delivering vital services that need funding. Workie Ticket Theatre would like to raise money and awareness for them.

Giving Voice to Silenced Women

We want to hear about female experiences, femininity, identity and sexuality. We want to give voices to women who have been silenced: single mothers, transgendered, DV survivors, women who are body-shamed, suffering from mental health issues, women who are survivors of sexual assault and women who work in the sex industry. We want to celebrate women: highlighting their survival and success. We want to listen to women’s stories: we want to HEAR HER ROAR.
